The U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca is seeking two individuals for the Maintenance Technician positions.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The incumbent performs general maintenance on US government owned and leased properties. Typical tasks will include lamp replacement, equipment cleaning, HVAC adjustments, minor plumbing fixture and piping service, painting, hardware repair/replacement, furniture service and cleanup. Services may include any other tasks related to M&R activities as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor. Incumbent receives work assignments from Maintenance Supervisor and will coordinate with other M&R staff as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
Education:
Secondary school is required. Completion of vocational school for Electrician or Mechanic or 3 years apprenticeship in Building Trades is required.
Experience:
Three years of experience with Building Trades Maintenance is required.
Language:
Level 3 (good working knowledge) in Arabic is required. Level 2 (limited knowledge) in French is required. Level I (rudimentary knowledge) in English is required.
Knowledge:
Must have working knowledge of Electrical systems.
Must be familiar with HVAC and plumbing systems and principles.
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and familiarity with Building Maintenance is required.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have a local driver license.
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Must have basic computer skills and familiarity with business software.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, US Citizen EFMs and US Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees must serve in the same position for a period of 52 weeks in addition to their probationary period before being eligible to apply for advertised positions. Temporary employees must first complete their temporary appointments before applying for advertised positions.
